Round 1 — 30 Min

Retwist Discipline

Competitors execute a complete loc retwist demonstrating control, consistency, and technical precision. Clean roots, proper tension, and uniform execution are evaluated. Models must arrive with unaltered locs in competition-ready condition.

Round 2 — 30 Min

Style Authority

Building on the retwist foundation, competitors create a defined loc style that demonstrates structure, logic, and intentional design. Shape, placement, and styling technique are evaluated under pressure.

Round 3 — 30 Min

The Dominion Final

The final round challenges competitors to bring together everything — retwist precision, styling authority, and creative originality — into a single championship-level presentation that commands attention and demonstrates true loc mastery.

Contestants must bring their own live models. Models must arrive with locs in the natural condition required for the retwist category — no pre-twisting, pre-styling, or pre-shaping permitted before the competition begins.

Retwist Discipline

PURPOSE: Honor the foundation of loc culture through clean, disciplined execution.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full-head retwist
  • Clean, defined parting
  • Respect for scalp health

RESTRICTIONS:

  • No styling permitted
  • No covering mistakes

SCORING (30 POINTS)

  • Clean parting – 10 pts
  • Completion — 15 pts
  • Proper Retwist Technique

Round 2 — 30 Min

Style Authority

PURPOSE: Translate the retwist into a structured, wearable style.

FOCUS:

  • Intentional design
  • Balanced, logical styling
  • Creative expression within structure

SCORING (30 POINTS)

  • Complete Style — 15 pts
  • Creativity — 10 pts
  • Accessories — 5 pts

Round 3 — 30 Min

The Dominion Final

PURPOSE: Establish dominance through creativity, execution, and presentation.

FINAL ROUND RESET:

This division is judged on technical execution, completion, design, consistency, and professionalism. There is no separate compliance section for braid & loc categories — professional standards still apply and violations result in –3 point deductions.

The winner is determined by the highest average score across all judges. Each judge scores independently. All judging decisions are final.

Know Before You Compete

Key Competition Rules

All competitors are responsible for understanding and following the rules of their category. Violations may result in point deductions or disqualification.

No Pre-Twisting Permitted

No pre-twisting, pre-styling, or pre-shaping of any kind before the competition begins. All work in each round must start from the condition established at the beginning of that round.

Models Must Meet Requirements

Models must arrive with locs in the natural, unaltered condition required for the retwist category. Competitors are responsible for their model's preparation.

Required Products Only

Use only the designated Loc & Twist products provided by PureO Natural Products and Locn Hair Products. Products are distributed at check-in. No substitutions permitted.

Stop When Time is Called

Competitors must immediately stop all work the moment each round's time is called. Continuing after time is penalized.

Complete All Three Rounds

Competitors must compete in and complete all three rounds. Withdrawal from any round results in disqualification from the full division.

Professional Conduct Required

Professional attitude and model handling are required throughout. Excessive tension, rough handling, or disruptive conduct results in deductions.
